Yesterday, we were able to start our soccer partnership with Feddersen Recreation Center. As I walked in, I got to meet students from the neighborhood and It was such a privilege. In the course of the fall weeks, we will be playing soccer and you are all invited to participate. Our goal as the Church is to relate to those around and built relationships with those in the community. Our prayer is that God will use us as we develop those relationships.

Rethinking our jobs NOW!
As a young servant of the Lord, I love to think
about creative ways to bring meaning into our lives. This week, I have been
thinking about the intersection between faith and work. It is not new for us,
that we spend a great amount of time in our work places. I believe this is an
opportunity to show our true identity as kingdom workers.
Since our childhood our parents' desire is for us
to professionally succeed. There is nothing wrong with that! We want to
work in areas that satisfy us, and there is nothing wrong with that either.
However, sometimes I feel like desires and illusions coming from inside of me
are far from what God has called me to do now! Sometimes I need to be reminded
that God has greater plans for my life, and I just need to be a humble servant,
so my life can bring meaning not only to the work environment, but also in the
other spheres of life.
In the work environment, we must understand, we do
not work for ourselves! We do not work for our parents, neither for any other
person. So, whom do we work for?
Slaves,
obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is
on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for
the Lord. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as
working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will
receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord
Christ you are serving. Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs,
and there is no favoritism. Masters, provide your slaves with what
is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven.
(Colossians 3:22-4:1)
The Scriptures are clear that we work for a bigger
purpose. Christ is our supreme master; therefore, he is the only one who will
reward us at last, if we decide to obey and serve him only.
Our jobs must be a vehicle, in which we perform in
a way that Christ may be glorified through our actions, words, behaviors, etc.
May God help us to bring our faith into our work place!
